Eve of Pirates Landing
PiggyParty3
All you can see is a sea of bodies as you work your way through the crowd. Stumbling drunkards carry tankards of ale sloshing about as the rich parade around in their finest clothes boasting about them being "all the rage in x place" or "only the finest dye from x". You can hardly contain your laughter and greed when you see a small child drowning in golden and scarred silver jewellery and silks, tripping over himself as he tries to follow his parents already faintly melting into the crowd. You continue on your way, snagging a dropped ring from the ground and slipping it unnoticed to a hidden pouch in your shirt. In a crowded square outside of a tavern you hear a bard singing a somewhat familiar shanty as the crowd dances and sings the chorus back, you stop to listen a moment before continuing through the festivities.
"Let pour the ale and watch it flow
With ships of gold from stern to bow
Rejoice in greed of pirates old
For the eve of pirates landing
(Chorus) For the eve of pirates landing, ho!
For the eve of pirates landing
For the eve of pirates landing, ho!
For the eve of pirates landing
Take to the streets in joyous glee
Watch rich folk in their finery
Place bets on brawls of camaraderie
For the eve of pirates landing
(Chorus) For the eve of pirates landing, ho!
For the eve of pirates landing
For the eve of pirates landing, ho!
For the eve of pirates landing"
The song continues as you walk away, ducking through people again, discreetly grabbing any dropped loot. You come up to a large ring of people and a pool of gold forming. You eye it for a moment deciding whether or not you could sneak some unnoticed, before deciding its not worth the risk to anger a ring of aggressive pirates. In the ring are two very different looking characters. The first you recognize as a large Orcish woman, covered in scars and dark marks from her various adventures at sea. She is dressed richly in captains attire showing her rank, not as fine as the nobles flaunting wealth but definitely more than needed for such an event. From a quick glance you can tell that half the surrounding group are members of her crew or otherwise indebted to her. The second fighter is a scrawny looking elf mixed with something you can't quite decipher, but definitely way too young to be picking a fight. He looks anxious, but there's something else in his stance that has a buried confidence. Looking around again you begin to notice some odd figures and move on to avoid the fowl play. You make it halfway down the next street before you hear the shouting and a loud crack from the direction of the pit. You decide not to turn back, instead continuing through crowds of singing, dancing, fighting and otherwise celebrating people collecting small treasures as you go. By the end of the night your pouch is full with a lovely collection to add to your treasures.
