Teppywigs

A people of short stature and naive innocence, Teppywigs are known to be a joyous and happy people, often caught daydreaming as they wonder about their lives with gleeful ignorance. During the Dividing Wars, most Teppywigs closed themselves off in The Valley of the Unseen to escape the violence of the world beyond and as to not get dragged into the bloodshed. There they have hid for centuries, not knowing the war is over and not daring to go out to find out. Yet some Teppywigs chose not to stay locked up in the valley and left prior to its hiding, which has left a small population of them out in the wider world of Colabria. Their rare ability to heal has made many of these rare Colabrian Teppywegs well revered warriors and mercenaries unlike their counterparts in the valley who maintain their musical, whimsical nature.

Teppywig Traits

All Teppywigs share some common traits.

Starting Stat: Your Constitution stat increases by 5 points.

Life: Most Teppywigs typically reach adulthood at the age of 12, and live to see around 80 years.

Predispositions: Due to their whimsical and joyous nature, you’re more likely to find a good-aligned Teppywig than an evil-aligned one. Often the heart of the party and one to offer a smile when things are hard, they are welcoming and kind and rarely turn to violence unless it is to protect or help others.

Size: Teppywigs average around 3 feet tall and weigh approximately 40 pounds. Your size is small.

Movement: Your base movement speed is 25 feet.

Healing Heart: Twice per short rest, as a bonus action you can regain 1d4 hit points. This die increases at certain levels: 1d6 at level 4, 1d8 at level 8, 1d10 at level 12 and 1d12 at level 15. You cannot use this ability if you are unconscious.

Rose Tinted Eyes: You don’t seem to find things as intimidating as others may find it, choosing to see the beauty and good in things instead. As such, you find courage checks 5% easier to succeed.

Nimbleness: You can move through the space of a creature that is at least one size larger than you are with no movement penalties.

Languages: You can speak Common and Teppywig. Teppywig is a purely spoken language with no written form, often used to just converse day to day because to the Teppywigs, there is nothing quite like memories and you shouldn’t need to write those down as the best ones will stay with you forever.

Subraces

Valley Teppywig

As a Valley Teppywig, you have an incredibly creative disposition. Your mind often sees the world in bright, vibrant colours and hues, bringing beauty to all that it beholds. You are easy to get on with and maintain a thoughtful presence even in dark times, making you a joy to be around.

Starting Stat: Your Wit stat increases by 3 points.

Creative Inclination: Who doesn’t love the arts? You certainly do! Living in such a vibrant culture has allowed you to pick up on some tricks of the trade, giving you a further 3 points in the Performance stat.

Exile Teppywig

As an Exile Teppywig, your ancestors left the Valley of the Unseen a long time ago to see the world beyond. Being shunned by the people and told to never return if they made it out, they have begun to see the world in all its beauty and horror, losing some of the naivety of their valley counterparts. Many have become great warriors over time, protecting the innocent and trying to help those in need.

Starting Stat: Your Awareness stat increases by 3 points.

Calming Presence: As much as you can fight, you are more inclined to try and deal with things peacefully. As such you gain an additional 3 points in the Dialogue stat.
